Who is Rights and Humanity?

It is a shocking fact that in our world of plenty:
• 30'000 children die every day due to preventable causes associated with poverty
• 800'000 people suff er from chronic hunger
• 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water
• 2.8 billion people live in poverty
Rights and Humanity, The International Movement for the Promotion and Realisation of Human Rights and Responsibilities, was established under Swiss law in 1986.

Rights and Humanity is a multi-faith, multi-cultural international movement linking people from many faiths and walks of life and of various political opinions. They are united in their desire to ensure protection of human rights and dignity and share a common belief as to how best this might be achieved.

Their philosophy is set out in the Rights and Humanity Principles adopted in 1987. In December 2003, they adopted the Rights and Humanity Principles of Responsibility by which they commit themselves to putting into practice in their professional, corporate and daily lives the principles on which human rights law is based and the values shared by diverse faiths and cultures. They aim to help bridge the divide between the aspirations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the reality of people’s lives so that all people might live in dignity and achieve their full potential.
